Dampened aurora,

A tiny queer explosion

On the cypress knees

In my studio practice, I delve into the intricate tapestry of collective responses to pride, personal relationships, self-identity, and community. My works emerge as exaggerated sculptural forms, carefully constructed in the relentless pursuit of acceptance. At the core of my artistic narrative, lies an intimate examination of my Queer identity. This is where I engage with camp ideas and drag culture through the prism of material exploration and composition.

Drawing inspiration from the natural world, I find resonance in the cypress tree—a symbol of strength, resilience, and growth. As these majestic trees mature, each exhale etches a mark of time into their bark, a tangible testament to their journey. Similarly, the art of drag, a celebration of self-expression, unfurls on the stage with every performance. Each moment in the spotlight becomes a breath, a transient yet profound attribute to personal growth and the art of performance.

My body of work becomes a vessel, inviting viewers to embark on a transformative journey through the southern landscape. Through the lens of a gay man, the immersive experience leads them through an environment of self-reflection and wonder. The dampened aurora, a tiny queer explosion on the cypress knees, serves as a metaphor for the nuanced beauty and vibrancy found within the Queer experience. In this exploration, I strive to create a space where viewers can engage with my artistic expressions, fostering dialogue, understanding, and a celebration of the diverse spectrum of human identity.
